Vintage Village Kantha Quilts

Experience the rich tradition of Indian village life with our Vintage Village Kantha Quilts.

Hand-stitched from layers of their own repurposed saris, clothing and even rugs, these quilts were crafted out of necessity and then patched and restitched year after year by women in rural villages to use in their own homes for decades and often generations.

 

Each quilt has layers of patches, faded prints, and worn areas, revealing the long & storied history of the families who used them. Our contacts in India trade a new quilt and some money to acquire the beautiful and durable fabrics used to make these quilts. 

 

They’re incredibly thick, durable and weighty, offering a feel that only time can create. They can be used as quilts or even rugs.
